The Athens bike co-op is a volunteer community organization working out of a 2-car garage in the near East side neighborhood of Athens. Foraged and donated bicycles are refurbished and sold for $25-$125. Some are put into service as a part of AYBiTS, which is a bike sharing program started spring of 2009. Custom bikes are also welded together at the co-op, including choppers, tallbikes, and cargo bikes. The Athens bike co-op also houses four rickshaws imported from India, which are sometimes used at festivals and for pedi-cabbing uptown Athens on bar nights.
Athens is a bike friendly community. See the Athens Bike Map,[1]
