The Pedallers Arms is a place to come and learn how to repair your bike in a friendly atmosphere. We are a co-operative of people, all volunteers, who want to help people fix up their own bikes. The emphasis is on “anyone can fix their bike”. We have tools, books and time for you.

Location

Come drop into one of our sessions. We ask for a donation towards rent and wear and tear, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. We are based at the Common Place (23-25 Wharf Street in Leeds, UK city centre) and we are open 4-8pm on Monday and Wednesday and hope to have a social event on the 2nd Sunday of each month. We’ll do our best to make sure there is tea, coffee and cake on offer at every session!

Aims

  • To empower people to maintain their own bicycle and provide accessible learning opportunities for all levels of ability.
  • To re-use old bicycle parts to keep environmental and financial costs low, thereby keeping useful resources from going to landfill.
  • To promote cycling as a safe, viable and cheap transport option.
  • To help marginal or under represented groups who cycle to feel comfortable with their bikes and the space so they can in turn help others.
  • To use established co-operative structures to ensure sustainability and continuity of service. We are not-for profit and any profits will go back into the project.
