Brakes: Difference between revisions

There are different types of brakes. Use the information below to determine which type you are using before continuing to the correct section.

Caliper Brakes are also known as side pull, have the cable on one side of the brake, and both brake arms pivot about a central bolt. Examples
Cantilever Brakes are easily identified by the upside-down "Y" created by their cables. The open end of the "Y" hovers above the tire. Examples
V Brakes only use one cable, which connects through one brake pad to another, across the wheel. Examples
Disc Brakes are identified by a metal discs around the hub of the front and rear wheels. Examples
